Joel
Joel

Several years ago I read through the old testament and I don't know how much I got out of it. I'm sure I did, but a lot of it, was confusing and boring to me. Now I'm reading some books and really seeing the heart of God. It's exciting and now I feel hungry for more of God. To know His heart more. Here are some of my thoughts while reading the book of Joel.

It sounds like judgment and more judgment. But then there's always a call for repentance and God's great mercy. He wants them to come to Him and He wants to forgive them. But they do not come.

Here's some cool verses from Joel:

"Even now," declares the Lord, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. " Joel 2:12-13

Study note: Deep remorse was often showed by tearing (rendering) one's clothes. But God didn't want an OUTWARD display of penitence without true INWARD repentance.

Have you ever heard this verse?
"Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision."
Joel 3:14

Joel's message is that there is destruction coming for those who do not repent! Turn to God TODAY while their is still time! Don't wait any longer. He longs to forgive you, and bless you.

I feel like I am knowing "God" better, as I always see Jesus more clearly. I remembered the verse about Jesus being "the Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Wonderful Counselor" and I realized, again, that JESUS IS GOD, and the Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit are one.
