Love is the Most Important ThingI was struggling with being angry and irritated with my life and with my children. People everywhere were telling me all the things I need to do to make sure my kids turn out right. They have to exercise! Don’t let them watch too much TV! They have to eat right! They need to do chores! The list goes on and on. I strive to do these things. But it’s hard to make everything go exactly the way you imagine and plan. That causes frustration and anger. I want to be loving and gentle so badly and pray about it constantly. One morning as I was getting out of bed, I had just put my feet on the floor when the verse came to my mind unexpectedly “You do not have in mind the things of God.” And also “you are upset and worried about many things.” It surprised me and I knew that God was speaking to me. He was showing me that I put so much emphasis on things that aren’t really important. Love is the most important thing in the world! So I began to study the love chapter in 1st Corinthians. I have written my own love chapter that helps me to get my priorities in order. The Bible verse is at the end. If I get my kids 60 minutes of activity each day If I teach them to love books and use their creative minds If I get them to play together If I make sure they eat nutritious foods and drink lots of milk ...but I have not love, I am nothing If I keep the house clean & get the kids to do some chores If I keep pop away and teach them to love water If I don’t allow them to be couch potatoes and teach them to be independent and able to do all things If I teach them to be respectful, kind & have good manners ...but I have not love, I am nothing Love does not call names Love does not lecture It does not raise it’s voice Love does not throw things or slam doors or dishes Love does not heap on guilt It does not condemn Love does not handle others roughly ****************************** Love is patient Love is kind It does not envy It does not boast It is not rude It is not self-seeking It is not easily angered It keeps no record of wrongs Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth It always protects always trusts, always hopes always perseveres Love never fails And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these things is love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 | Bookmark
